Job description


Due to a great uptake in our new community programmes taking place in the evening and weekends and our schools provision expanding, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and motivated individual to join our team!


As a member of the team, you will be delivering sessions to children aged 2-14 years in a variety of sports settings.


Job Title: Sports Coach


Reports to: Laura Patrick – Director


Type of Position: Casual


Hours: School provision hours between 8.00am – 4.30pm Monday - Friday

Community coaching sessions vary from 9.30am-12.00am and 5.30pm-7.30pm Monday-Saturday.

Holiday club hours between 09:15am – 15:00pm Monday to Friday.


Pay: £10-£25 per hour 


Job Purpose: To lead and assist in the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of high-quality sport coaching sessions and primary school PE sessions.


Job Overview:

  • The job holder will be responsible for planning, delivering/assisting of Primary school PE and community sessions at the venues instructed to children aged 4-11 years.
  • Be accountable for monitoring and evaluation tasks, linking to successful project reporting.
  • In addition to good management, organisational and administrational skills will be required to work closely and successfully with our senior management team.
  • Be accountable for the standard of professionalism.
  • All employees must ensure thorough understanding of the Safeguarding Handbook and all of the policies and procedures within it, including schools safeguarding policies.
  • Promote sport, healthy and active lifestyles to children.
  • Manage children’s behaviour at all times.
  • Ensure that each child progresses by providing high quality feedback and subject knowledge.
  • Have positive and confident conversations with teachers and parents.
  • To ensure pupils are coached accordingly to their individual needs and capabilities.
  • To employ different delivery techniques and ability to adapt to all Primary School aged children.

Qualifications/Skills

It is essential that the successful candidate has the following:

· Recognised NGB Level 1 certificate in Sports Coaching

· Full UK driving license, has own transport

· Ability to work both individually and within a team

· Passion for sport, and providing children with a positive experience in sport and PE

· Willing to undertake training and professional development where necessary

· Excellent communication skills

· Are organised and punctual

· Be willing to undergo a Government Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

It is desirable that the successful candidate has the following:

· Previous experience working with children from all backgrounds and leading sessions without support.

· GCSE's and/or A Levels (or equivalent) in PE or BTEC Sport

· Recognised NGB Level 2 certificate in Sports Coaching

· Valid safeguarding and First Aid certificate


Please note: The person appointed to this role will have contact with children and vulnerable adults, and therefore, the post holder will require an enhanced Disclosure Barring Service check.
